Looks like spring and summer are going to be wonderful seasons to enjoy entertainment in person and virtually. At Azulon, one of our favorite places is the Segerstrom Center for The Arts.. Not only is it beautiful and close by, but it has become a must-perform venue for the world’s top talent. In May, there are fun events to enjoy with something for everyone. Improv on the Plaza is an in-person event outdoors with improv workshops presented in association with South Coast Repertory! These fast-paced, fun workshops focus on acting, characterization, creativity, and spontaneity through improvised scenes and theatre games. They will be taught by Greg Atkins, an SCR Theatre Conservatory teaching artist.

Tuesday Dance Bollywood is another fun, socially distanced, in-person outdoor class that will teach you the techniques of Bollywood dancing every Tuesday in May on the Argyros Plaza! Bollywood dance instructor extraordinaire, Apra Bhandari, will guide lead these fun, upbeat classes, appropriate for all abilities. no dance experience is required to take part.

Uniting in Movement is a virtual entertainment event between the Center and American Ballet Theatre, and features work by two contemporary choreographers Lauren Lovette and Darrell Grand Moultrie. Each of these works is a very personal and unique vision for the future of ballet. The program also includes two classical pas de deux, Grand Pas Classique and White Swan.

Additional May events include the comedy of Kevin Nealon, Spring Carnival, and a speakeasy-inspired Way Down Hadestown. Check the complete Segerstrom Calendar for more information about any of the events mentioned here.
